This weekend was great...  and somehow (heh) I got the bug to find out what I can on the history of the Barony.. Supposedly I'm not seeing the "updated" version of the lineage, though I'm not sure...  lol...  I'm presently looking at a newsletter from A.S. 27...  Two Laurels I know of are simply "milord" or "milady"...  A Knight I know of is simple "Lord" (his lady is "Lady")...  it's interesting. lol... and all have since been made Barons/Baronesses..

I blame this on an awesome wallhanging that was hiding, and talking with one of the former Barons (the now-Knight mentioned above)...

I know these are at least 18 years old.. One of these has a birth announcement for one of the teens in the Barony in it.. and she's 18... O_o

Lemme do the math, cause the birth announcement is in the first (chronologically ordered) one..

XLIV-XXVI=whatever.. XVIII

Interesting, though.. and at least I can find the spelling for someone else...

Hi.. I'm possibly a little tired... >_>

Thanks to [info]macbeemer I did a meme! WOO Its below the cut. ;D Besty asked questions that made me become long winded. BEWARE!

Borg Meme of Dooooom! )

In other news, Winter Arts was really fun! I had a good time displaying and even won some baubles for my work. I showed my orange Ren, Max's blue and silver Cassock, some Kimehimo braids, and my tankard cover I made. I also made another pumpkin pie which was devourered very quickly. At the event I managed to find someone to teach me beginner blackwork....now all I want to do is learn more so I can put blackwork on my chemises and Max's shirts...This could be deadly. I was really inspired by all the work I saw there and now I'm really wanting to get back to illumination and do some more garb research for garb...and black work. NEW ADDICTION!I will probably steal some photos from Anvenel and Lou and post a pic of my viking garb up in [info]costumenonsense soon. BTW, Trish? Christal? Someone put their scary murder dolls on view and made some cool norman period garb for them. I totally geeked out and got to meet the girls who owned them. NERD AM I!!
On Friday I not only managed to clean out most of garage (GO ME) I also planted clover and my wild flower seeds for the front yard as well as weed the herb garden and my snap dragons. I also put up the cute little iron fence PJ left me as well as some solar lights to light the walk way up to the front door. The front yard is slowly starting to take shape. Hopefully in the new year I can get the Chateau de Nom Nom sign painted for the front door and This for our front yard....and my dorky girly side wants to get one of these too... But I'm really happy so far with how the front yard is coming along. It looks like one of the old succulents in the front is going to pot so I think I'm going to remove it soon and replace it with someing more floral. I haven't desided what yet.
Max and I made make our way out to pick up a tree for the Chateau de Nom Nom tonight. I'm itching to put up the Christmas decoration. We have a wreath on the door already and hopefully this week we'll get our icicle lights up around the house. HEE! I also want to pick up some oranges and cloves so I can put a bowl of them out in the living room. They always make the room smell so dang good!

If not that I may chill on the couch and try to finish up the first season of The Tudors. Only have two eps left.

Current Mood: dorky

I was poisoned on Thanksgiving. I’ve been utterly sick and completely useless for at least six days because of this. I was given something contaminated with gluten, and I went through a pretty decent Hell because of it.

Thursday, day 1: Within 5 minutes of eating the contaminated food I was nauseated, cramping, and having brainfog and overall numbness. My fine motor skills were entirely shot and I was shaking so hard you could hear it in my voice. I couldn’t think to save my life; I spent the rest of the day on the couch under a blanket, playing easy DS games and watching mindless DVDs.

Friday, day 2 of severe glutenation: Nausea, migraine, shaking, stomach pain, fatigue and muscle weakness. Also, some paranoia. I was on my feet a total of eight times that day — once from the bed to the couch, three restroom trips, and once back to the bed from the couch.. It’s a short walk that took me about 5 minutes each way; my legs were so weak I can barely stand.

I could not drive, or walk, or stand up for an extended period. Early in the day I could not even hold a crochet hook because my wrists and arms hurt so badly.

Saturday, day 3: Still nauseated, weak and tired. I remember that this was the first day I was even strong enough to sit up unaided or without being propped up by pillows. That stunning achievement was reached midday, for several minutes at a time.

I was not able to walk or drive for any length of time. Thank gods a good friend of ours was able to come by and take the husband out to get groceries and other needful things for us.

Sunday, day 4: Still flu-like symptoms, short temper, still very weak. I did however have the strength (by the end of the day) to stand up long enough to take my first shower since the glutening. If you do the math, it’s not pretty. :(

Monday, day 5: My immune system and digestive tract are fired. Woke up sore all over; weak and in pain. I went to my doctor who made soothing noises (she is a joy and a comfort) and gave me steroids to stop the over-reactive immune response. My herbalist (also a joy and a comfort) gave me oregano to prevent a fungal infection — steroids have that effect sometimes — and peppermint oil for my ongoing nausea. All the driving nearly did me in, however. Went to bed early and happy about it.

Tuesday, day 6: Stuffed full of steroids. About 60% back to “normal”. Head hurt, thoughts racing, and crying jags like whoa. Fun! I think I made the right decision to stay home, no matter how worried about money I am. When a scene from “Death to Smoochy” makes me tear up, I’m in no condition to deal with the outside world.

Wednesday, day 7: Went to work, like the brave little toaster I am. Still pretty sore. Pretty nauseated (but the peppermint oil does certainly help). My head does weird things if I move it too quickly. I’m tired and I have no appetite — probably for the good.

All this peppermint is making me want Mint Chocolate ice cream, though.

It sounds so incredibly simple and trite when I write it all out like this. Nothing can describe a full week of feeling like I’m in a tumble-dryer full of rocks for hours on end.

And I can’t do this anymore. Luckily I will get paid for the holiday, but missing 3 days of work is a substantial amount and I can’t afford repeats of this happy little adventure. I’ve got to keep my food safely under my control. If that means not eating with family or not eating out at restaurants or not eating at work functions or parties with friends… then so be it. Any amount of transient personal embarrassment or even a little hardship between me and other people not as supportive of my condition is worth it rather than face a week of hell and another 4-7 days of discomfort.

I’m amazed that some people think that celiacs are doing this “just for attention”. I would like to give such ignorant savages some attention in return.

With a baseball bat. For a few hours.

Keys are still lost. Will try calling the theater back in an hour or so, see if we can get a real person. Searched the yard and car again this morning in the light.

But, aside from that!

Yesterday, Tim and I went to see a showing of a play called Equivocation. He and Becca had seen it in Ashland and were very impressed, bought the script and brought it home for me to read. So I did, and it was good, and when we found out it was being done here in Seattle, we got tickets.

Very neat play. There's a cast of six actors, most of whom have to juggle multiple characters and do a damn good job of it. The basic premise is that Shakespeare is commissioned to do a play about the Gunpowder Plot, but it's really more about the natures of truth, honesty, lying, relationships and conflict. Especially good insights on politics and fathers-and-daughters, which makes it extra good that Tim and Becca initially saw it together.

Okay, and we were almost in a car wreck on the way. Freeway line of cars came to a sudden stop at the offramp and Tim managed to brake with NO room to spare between us and the car ahead (who was also realizing at past the last moment that he was in an exit-only lane but didn't wanna exit, adding to the difficulty). We both were SURE we'd wham into him, or that the car behind us would wham into US, or both. Damn, am I glad my guy can drive. Massive adrenaline surge but no contact with any of the vehicles.

Rest of the evening was spent at home catching up on some TV episodes (Amazing Race and The Graham Norton Show). Today, up early and out shopping ... including the fixins for next weekend's holiday cookie baking. In a little bit here, we'll begin setting up the Christmas decorations.

Edit: or we'll have an argument before lunch and leave the decorations boxed up and piled in the dining room until we're all in a better mood :P

Some awesome for your Sunday morning. (new drawing later. Haven't decided what to draw yet. <3 )

Doctor Who Christmasy-short (not the OOD one!) SUPER CUTE.

These dancers are amazing! Seriously! (Thanks to looooo for the headsup) I don't watch much TV, so I hadn't seen them.

LXD Epic Dance Adventure, same dancers as above, but what's great about this, is when you get to see them close up, isolated,... you can really appreciate how fabulous the dancing is.

This one was a fucking bitch to produce. It was done, SITCOM style... and, the laugh track drove me insane. And then, Viacom had it flagged on YouTube, so I had to post a link to it from just the intro.

That being said, I am quite proud of this one. It's different, but different is good.
